We are eating ice made of I love you and I miss
you to convince ourselves we aren’t

starving. Our attempt
at kintsugi, artistry we don’t understand.

A way of holding onto this
Still so it cannot become anything

less. A way of saying
I’m sorry there isn’t more.

Sarah Brockhaus is a Sophomore at Salisbury University. She is studying English and Secondary Education and hopes to become a high school English teacher after graduation. Outside of class she enjoys playing volleyball and drinking coffee.
