Chris Brunk
The Small Ones Count Too
Eleven bridges crossed to watch
the worst game we could have
hoped for. Ten toes
are for people who bury
their feet in the sand, anyway. You
didn’t say and I didn’t
ask much—I could feel
the earful you’d received: four
eyes on the loss was enough. I wondered whether
peripheral neuropathy could cure
phantom limb syndrome
or if needles would
haunt us two.
