How to Misread Poetry:
Very carefully
pour water into the coffee
maker: you have to
eyeball the midway between two
and four cups. It has to be
from the Brita: you can’t
trust the faucet, those old
pipes. Do not insert
the paper filter until
the water is poured: you can’t have any
stray droplets. Calm
your wrist as you transfer
three tablespoons of grounds: they must
be rounded or else
it won’t be enough. Close
the lid and press the on/off
button: make sure you apply adequate
force for both. Wait roughly
six minutes: what you do during this step
is unimportant.
